Vietnam is a country with more than 2000 miles of coastline and three different weather systems. Because of differences in latitude and the marked variety in topographical relief, the Vietnam weather tends to vary considerably from place to place.

Mountainous Far North
Sapa, Ha Giang, Bac Ha

The climate in Sapa and Vietnam’s far north-west is divided into two seasons: the dry season runs from October to late March and the wet season runs from April to September.

The best months to travel in the north-east (Ha Giang) is during the dry season, from October to April

March - May and September - November are the two recommended periods to visit Sapa if you want a more laid-back natural and rejuvenating holiday.

Hanoi, Halong  and North Vietnam has a distinct winter and summer season. The cool but mostly dry winter lasts from November to April when temperatures average 17-22°C with the coldest months being January, February and March.

Central Vietnam
Hoi An, Danang, Hue, Quy Nhon & Nha Trang

Hoi An: average max temperature in November is 25°C, average min temperature is 21°C. Humidity is 85%.

Weather in November is warmly comfortable and it is good time to visit Central Vietnam. The only concern is the heavy rainfall in this time.

South Vietnam
Ho Chi Minh City, The Mekong Delta, Dalat & Phu Quoc

The average temperatures in the south range between 25 - 35°C year round.
 


“Typhoon season” in the Pacific is in May – November. On average, 27 tropical storms form in this basin every year. Typhoons can lash the central and northern coastline of Vietnam until November.
